Government's Position On Cell Phone Safety

The FDA's information and position can be read at You can go there and read what they have to say. Of course, keep in mind that the government is very reluctant to make any negative comments about cell phone safety for financial and political reasons (See blog posted on 12/17/07)

After going to great lengths on their website to remove any fear anyone has over cell phone safety here's the quote that follows which sums up the position of the FDA on this issue: "There is no proof, however, that wireless phones are absolutely safe."

How's that for a vote of confidence? Does that make you want to run out and extend your cell phone contract?

Wouldn't we want to establish proof of safety first, before something is placed on the market? We don't do this with pharmaceuticals or food or anything else. Why are cell phones exempt from proof of safety? Any medical professional will tell you tumors take 10, 15 even 20 years to develop. Cell phones have been on the market since 1983. However, only in the last 5-7 years has this market really exploded. Today's cell phone is a different technology than back in 1983, too. So we won't know for another five, 10 or 15 years if we're all participating in somebody's giant experiment or not.

In the meantime, use your cell phone safely and minimally.

Why Don't I Hear About This From The Government or Media?

If cell phones are such a problem why don't we hear more about it in the media? Why doesn't the government step in and warn us or make an announcement?

Well, you have to understand that cell phones and wireless technology is big business. About 35% of the retirement portfolios are tied up in Information Technology (IT) stocks. And you don't need to look far on Wall Street to find how big IT stocks are and what a large percentage of our financial markets they make up.

I bet you didn't know this, either. Cell phone minutes are the second largest producer of revenue for the government from a consumer product. The largest consumer product producing revenue for the government is gasoline. Cell phone minutes are right behind.

Now imagine if the FDA or FCC issued a press release stating that cell phones just might cause a problem, or that they might not be entirely safe as they originally thought. Can you imagine the sell-off of stock in these companies that would begin? Can you imagine what they might do to our economy? It could be disastrous. And it certainly wouldn't happen during an election year.

Here's what the government does say about cell phones. You can find this in your cell phone owner's manual. The statement basically says "We can't find any problems with cell phones...but we can't say they're completely safe, either." How's that for a commitment? Does that make you feel confident in our government to be our watchdog on this issue? Not me!

Do your own research. There's a ton of it our there. You'll be amazed. But don't take my word for it. Check it out yourself.

Until next time, keep your cell phone minutes to a minimum and use a landline phone. The next time you purchase a cell phone purchase one with a speakerphone option. And use it! At least that way you get the phone away from your head.

Electronic Office Equipment Poses Risk

Research done by Imperial College's Center for Environmental Policy reports that electronic office equipment such as printers, computers, lamps, wiring, etc. may impact your health by giving off electrical fields also known as EMR or electromagnetic radiation. It seems EMR charges particles in the air such as viruses, bacteria, and allergens. When these particles are inhaled the electrical charge causes them to adhere to the tissue in the lungs and respiratory tract. Of course, conditions such as asthma, flu, and respiratory illnesses can ensue.

Electronic smog, or electropollution, is everywhere. Protect yourself.

New Study Says Cell Phone Radiation Increases Tumor Risk

A new study from Israel says regular cell phone users have an increased risk of tumor formation. The study was published on December 7, 2007, in the American Journal of Epidemiology.

The risk of developing a parotid gland tumor was 50% higher for frequent cell phone users. A frequent user was defined in this study as someone using a cell phone more than 22 hours (1320 minutes) per month. The parotid gland is a salivary gland just below and in front of each ear.

The risk was even higher when users used the cell phone on the same side of the head, did not use a hands-free device, or if the user was in a rural area.

Dr. Siegel Sadetzki, a cancer and radiation expert at Chaim Sheba Medical Centre in Israel led the study.

Studies continue to sound the alarm that exposure to cell phone radiation poses a health risk. When will we begin to recognize that the cell phone radiation problem is following a similar path that the tobacco problem followed? How long were we told that tobacco was safe? How long will we be told that cell phones are safe?

Are you concerned that there just MIGHT be a problem here? I'm convinced there is a problem. There's too much research that says there is, too. Don't wait for the government to warn us. The government has too much to lose financially and politically. So don't look there for safety. Be your own best protector of your health. Check out the overwhelming research that says there's a smoking gun here. I think you'll be surprised.

In the meantime, don't carry the cell phone close to your body, don't talk long periods of time, don't talk on it while driving, and absolutely don't let your kids talk on it for more than a few minutes at a time.

Cell phones are convenient but they just aren't safe.

Autism, Cell Phones and EMR

Want to hear some major news about cell phones and wireless technology? According to a new ground-breaking study just published this week in the Australasian Journal of Clinical Environmental Medicine, wireless communication and technology may be responsible for accelerating the rise in autism. (J.Aust.Coll.nutr.&Env.Med, 2007; Vol.26, No.2 pg 3-7)

According to this study wireless technology and electromagnetic radiation prevents the body's cells from detoxifying. Heavy metals, which are often seen as one of the reasons behind autism, cannot be easily excreted in the presence of electromagnetic radiation (EMR). It seems EMR makes the cell membrane "hard" and materials, such as heavy metals and toxins can't move out of the cell to be excreted. Consequently, good nutrients can't move inside the cell where they are needed for nourishment.

George Carlo, who headed the world's largest safety research project on cell phones back in the late 1990s, co-authored the paper along with Tamara Mariea, an autism specialist in Nashville, TN. Mariea commented, "These findings give us very important clues to solving some of the enigmas we see in the autism literature regarding the efficacy of detoxification. And, we are extremely pleased with the results we are now seeing in these children. Our protocols are working."

Dr. Carlo said, "These findings tie in with other studies showing adverse cell-membrane responses and disruptions of normal cell physiology. The EMR apparently causes the metals to be trapped in cells, slowing clearance and accelerating the onset of symptoms."

I've felt for years that there may be a connection between EMR and autism. EMR is so disruptive to cell-to-cell communication and isn't that what autism is? And if you look at the growth of cell phones, introduced in 1983, you see that it parallels the increase in autism. I'm glad some research has finally come out indicating there is a connection.

What's the message here? Parents, get your kids off those cell phones!! If your child has autism remove the EMR from their environment. If you want more information on how to do this contact me.

Electropollution is a huge, huge problem and it's growing bigger by the day.

Europe Calls for Reduction in Wi-Fi

Did you hear the latest on electromagnetic radiation and cell phones from Europe?

Europe's top environmental watchdog group, the European Environment Agency (EEA), is calling for immediate action to reduce to electromagnetic radiation from cell phones, cell phone towers and Wi-Fi. It seems a recent scientific review concluded that current safety limits are set "thousands of times too lenient." Furthermore, a recent British report concluded that it could not rule out the development of cancers from using cell phones.

The German government is advising its citizens to use wired connections instead of Wi-Fi and landlines instead of mobile phones.

The BioInitiative Working Group, composed of leading scientists and public health officials says that the explosion and expansion of new technology has created long-term and cumulative exposure to massively increased radiation that has no precedent in human history.

Did you know cell phones were the only radiation-producing device that was ever sold WITHOUT ANY premarket testing?

If you think cell phones and wireless technology is safe just because you can't see it or feel it, think again.

Cell Phone Radiation and Health Problems

Although the FDA takes a neutral position on cell phone radiation our government has known of problems for some time. During the Cold War the American Embassy in Moscow was "micro-waved" by the Russian Embassy. The American ambassador became ill and was soon diagnosed with leukemia. His replacement also became ill and was diagnosed with leukemia. Embassy staff members became ill. After an investigation it was learned that low level frequencies, similar to cell phone radiation, was responsible. Furthermore, after extensive study the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency warned all of its personnel of risks from low-level radiation. (Just FYI, microwave radiation and cell phone radiation is basically the same.)

Isn't that fascinating? The Russian Embassy basically "nuked" the American Embassy from across the street by directing microwaves at the building and created all kinds of illness within the compound. Who says microwave radiation isn't harmful?
